The all-new, sixth-generation Nissan MICRA has been unveiled ahead of its European market launch later this year, marking a significant shift as the model transitions to a fully electric vehicle (EV). Designed to cater to urban drivers, the new MICRA will be available with two battery options—40kWh and 52kWh—offering ranges of up to 308km and 408km, respectively, under real-world conditions. Notably, the vehicle supports fast charging, with the 52kWh variant capable of reaching 15%-80% charge in approximately 30 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. Additionally, both battery versions include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing owners to power external devices using the car’s battery.
Designed at Nissan’s Design Europe studio in London, the new MICRA features a bold, SUV-inspired exterior with distinctive styling elements, including LED lighting animations and a choice of 14 exterior color combinations. The interior emphasizes simplicity and connectivity, featuring dual 10.1-inch displays—one for the driver and another for infotainment—along with subtle design nods to Nissan’s Japanese heritage. Despite its compact dimensions (under 4 meters in length), the car offers a spacious 326-liter trunk, surpassing many competitors in its segment.
Performance-wise, the MICRA leverages Nissan’s AmpR EV platform, with a low-mounted battery pack and a multi-link rear suspension for improved handling. The 52kWh version delivers 110kW of power and 245Nm of torque, providing responsive acceleration suitable for city driving. Advanced driver assistance systems, including Nissan ProPilot, enhance safety, while NissanConnect with Google integration ensures seamless connectivity. Sales are set to begin in Europe later this year, Nissan Australia has yet to confirm whether or not we will be seeing the new EV here.
