Bigger, Smarter, and More Refined

Mazda Australia has today revealed the all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5, marking the beginning of the nameplate’s third generation. Building on a legacy that began in 2012, the latest CX-5 combines evolved design, increased space, and cutting-edge technology in a package aimed at elevating the benchmark for medium SUVs.

Over 4.5 million CX-5s have been sold globally in more than 100 countries, with more than 316,000 of those in Australia alone. A consistent top performer in the SUV market, the CX-5 has been a mainstay on the podium for medium SUVs since its introduction.

The new 2026 model takes this success further, offering a larger and more versatile platform. It’s 115mm longer with a matching increase in wheelbase, 15mm wider, and boasts significantly more cabin and cargo space. The design reflects Mazda’s latest evolution of its Kodo design language, fused with the Japanese “Kigumi” architectural philosophy—seen in the crisp body lines and wing trim detailing. The new front fascia features a bold Mazda Signature Wing grille flanked by angular lighting, while the rear adopts new tail lights and “MAZDA” lettering for a stronger visual presence.

Inside, the cabin has been reimagined with a minimalist yet functional design. Passengers benefit from increased legroom, improved head clearance, and wider door openings for easier access—especially helpful for families. A panoramic sunroof and new ambient lighting add a sense of calm and spaciousness, while higher-quality materials emphasize Mazda’s signature craftsmanship.

At the heart of the dashboard is Mazda’s largest-ever touchscreen: a 15.6-inch integrated display offering smartphone-style usability and a fully customisable interface. Under the bonnet, the 2026 CX-5 launches with a refined 2.5-litre SkyActiv-G engine producing 132kW and 242Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic and standard i-Activ AWD. A hybrid variant is confirmed to follow.

The all-new CX-5 also debuts a suite of advanced driver assistance technologies, reinforcing Mazda’s focus on safety and driver confidence.

Due to arrive in local showrooms in 2026, the third-generation Mazda CX-5 brings fresh appeal to one of Australia’s most loved SUVs—now smarter, safer, and more versatile than ever.
