BMW M2 CS: The Ultimate M2 Refined for Road and Track

Faster, lighter, more powerful... and has a ducktail

Update: BMW Australia has announced the M2 CS will cost $172,900 before on-roads, with deliveries expected at the end of the 2025.

BMW M GmbH has taken the wraps off the new BMW M2 CS, a limited-run special edition that sharpens the latest-generation M2 into an even more potent driver’s car. With production set for BMW’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico, this focused variant will target key global markets – notably the USA, Germany, and China – with a market launch scheduled for late summer 2025. In Germany, the M2 CS will be priced from €115,000. No word yet on Australia availability or pricing.

The CS badge brings with it BMW M’s trademark blend of lightweight construction, motorsport-derived engineering, and precision performance. Compared to the standard M2, the CS sheds around 30 kilograms thanks to the extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) across the body and interior, as well as forged M light-alloy wheels. This reduction in weight not only benefits outright performance but also sharpens dynamics across the board.

Under the bonnet, BMW has dialled up the output of its 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine to 390 kW and 650 Nm, channelled through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. The result is a 0–100 km/h time of just 3.8 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 302 km/h. Supporting this is a suite of upgraded hardware: model-specific adaptive M suspension, recalibrated M Sport differential, and optional carbon ceramic brakes.

Inside, the CS continues its track-focused theme with carbon bucket seats trimmed in Merino leather, a CFRP centre console, and exclusive “CS” detailing throughout. Paired with Alcantara accents and bespoke ambient lighting, the cabin maintains a balance of motorsport intent and premium finish.

With its revised chassis, uprated powertrain and low-volume allure, the new BMW M2 CS sits confidently at the pinnacle of the compact performance segment – a car equally at home on twisting backroads as it is carving through apexes at the circuit.
