Evasive Motorsports is set to return to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) on June 22 with its most advanced EV build yet: the Evasive Motorsports Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Pikes Peak. In collaboration with Hyundai, the Southern California tuning shop will enter a specially-prepared 2025 IONIQ 5 N in the 103rd running of the iconic race.
Building on its electric racing pedigree—including a class win in 2022 with a Tesla Model 3 - Evasive is targeting the sub-10-minute barrier this year. “We’ve come close before,” said co-president Mike Chang. “With Hyundai’s support and the IONIQ 5 N’s performance potential, we believe this is the year.”
With 478kW and 770Nm from its dual motors (with N Grin Boost), the modified IONIQ 5 N receives significant aerodynamic upgrades from Voltex Japan, carbon fibre doors and tailgate, prototype EVS suspension components, and lightweight forged wheels on racing slicks. Eimer Engineering contributed a PPIHC-spec roll cage, while Moton and Krontec systems ensure handling precision and serviceability on race day.
Veteran driver Rob Walker returns to the mountain after nearly a decade, training on simulators and real-world testing with his own IONIQ 5 N daily driver. His experience in both combustion and electric racing makes him well suited for the 156-turn, 12.42-mile ascent to 4,302 metres.
